He was principal and teacher of a number of schools in Cherokee County. He was also an ordained Baptist minister. Norman was married to Etna Stalcup on December 24, 1923. To this union were born John Ophrey and Mamilee. Norman died at the age of 41 on May 9, 1942 and was buried in Moss Cemetery at Marble.
